Storm, Wind and Hail Roof Repair in Knox City & Northeast Missouri

Northeast Missouri gets straight-line winds and severe gusts that lift shingles right off a roof, hail that cracks and strips the granules off them, and storms that drive water in wherever the roof has a weak spot. If you are reading this after a storm, you are probably trying to figure out whether the roof can be repaired or whether it is done, and what to tell your insurance company. This page is the plain version of both.

We will not promise you a response time on a website, because storm season is storm season and we will not tell you something we cannot hold to. What we will do is come look at the roof, tell you what we see, document it for your insurance claim, and tell you honestly whether a repair will hold or whether the roof has to come off.

How a Storm Damage Inspection and Repair Works

We start by getting on the roof and walking it. We are looking for wind-lifted shingles, hail hits, cracked and dented metal, lifted seams, broken flashing, and any place water is getting in. We take photos and notes as we go, because the documentation is what your insurance adjuster will want to see.

Then we tell you what we found, in plain language, and separate it into what is worth repairing and what is not. A few lifted shingles or a dented panel can be repaired. A roof that has lost its seal across a whole slope, or a metal roof with seams lifted by wind, may be past repair — and we will tell you that rather than patch it and hope.

If a repair is the answer, we make it and we make it to last, not just to get through the next rain. If a replacement is the answer, we say so and we show you why. We cannot file your insurance claim for you, but we walk you through what we found and hand you the documentation your adjuster will want.

What Is Worth Repairing

Localized damage is usually repairable — a section of lifted shingles, a dented or cracked panel, broken flashing around a penetration, a spot where wind peeled back a corner. If the deck is solid and the rest of the roof is sound, a targeted repair can buy you years.

Storm repair is also the right moment to find out whether the roof you have is the roof you want to keep. If a storm is the thing that finally ends an old asphalt roof, a standing seam replacement is the version that does not need this call again after the next storm.

What Is Not Worth Repairing

If the damage is widespread — shingles lifted across a whole slope, a metal roof with seams that have been worked loose by wind, hail that has cracked shingles across the field — a repair is not the honest answer. Patching one spot of a roof that has failed broadly just moves the leak.

We will not sell you a repair we do not believe will hold. If the roof is done, we will tell you it is done and show you why, and then the conversation is about replacement.

What Drives the Cost of Storm Repair

A small, localized repair costs less than a full slope or a replacement, obviously. What drives the number is how much of the roof is damaged, how many panels or shingles have to come off and go back on, whether the deck underneath is sound, and the complexity of the repair area — valleys and penetrations are detail work. If you are filing an insurance claim, the documentation we give you is what your adjuster works from.

We do not quote a number on a website. We come look, tell you what we see, and give you a written quote. See What It Costs for how the quote process works.

From a customer

Donna Strong — Roof repair for storm and wind damage — Google review

“I would use this service again without a doubt. The sales person (and crew member) was very knowledgeable and offered a very reasonable price. Crew were helpful and courteous. They arrived on time. They worked hard. Cleanup was done well. The roof has been up for about three weeks through wind and rain and did well. I did not experience more overhead noise than with the previous asphalt shingle roof. I also get great cell phone reception. I give the experience with Snaplock Roofing LLC from Knox City, MO five stars. If one can love a roof I can say I love my new roof!”

Storm, Wind and Hail Repair — Common Questions

What does wind actually do to a roof around here?

Straight-line winds and severe gusts get under the leading edge of a shingle and peel it back, breaking the self-sealing strip that held it down. On a metal roof, wind can work a seam loose or lift a panel that was not fastened right. The damage is often not visible from the ground.

Does hail damage a metal roof?

Hail will dent steel in a hard storm — we will not pretend it will not. But a dent does not crack a panel and does not make it leak, the way hail cracks an asphalt shingle and strips the granules off it. A dented metal roof still sheds water. A cracked shingle roof does not.

Will you help with my insurance claim?

We document the damage thoroughly — photos, written notes, a clear scope of what we found — and hand it to you for your adjuster. We cannot file the claim for you, but we will walk you through what we found and what the documentation says.

How do I know if it's a repair or a replacement?

That is the first thing we tell you when we come look. Localized damage is usually repairable; widespread damage usually is not. We will not sell you a repair we do not believe will hold.

Do you repair roofs you didn't install?

Yes. We inspect and repair storm and wind damage on roofs whether or not we put them on. If the roof is past repair, we will tell you that and show you why.
